DO Add a Call to Action
“Click here,” “subscribe now,” “Learn more,” and so many other phrases that evoke a sense of urgency to comply are called calls to action or CTAs for short. These small, two-word phrases serve as the “finishing blow,” so to speak, on your pitch towards your target audience. Now that you’ve got them into a position to engage in your brand, it’s time to give them a reason to finally do what you want them to do. DO Point to Words You Want People to Notice
This one doesn’t focus on the copy – but more on getting people to look at your most essential copies. Use symbols like arrows to point at buttons, text, testimonials, or any other element of your copy that’s important towards your overall message.
DO Use Numerals Instead of Written Numbers
Another important aspect about website copywriting is that if your copy includes a number make sure you write the numeral instead of the word. It will help readers during their skim and will make your content more readable and understandable. So instead of the word seven; you write its numerical symbol, which is 7.
DON’T Stuff Your Content with Keywords
Keyword stuffing, or the act of placing too many keywords into a copy, is considered an automatic red flag. Not only will you annoy people with your blatant use of keywords, but you’re also ruining your SEO score. Make sure the content of your copy is all-natural. Don’t forcefully add keywords just for ranking purposes.
DON’T Copy Your Competitors
Always be unique. Sure, you can copy some strategies here and there. But keep in mind that the SEO strategy that your competitors are using may not work for you. So, make sure you avoid copying your competitors.
DON’T Trick Your Audience
Never use statements that will trick your target audience into engaging your brand. Any act of trickery will punish your website through the form of a high bounce rate. Nobody is going to engage in a brand that tricks people just for exposure. So, make sure you avoid doing that during your website copywriting.
